Jolly Old St. Nick Purse – Quiltfest Virtual Schoolhouse #9 – November 8, 2024

Create this cute applique Santa Claus bag in the hoop! Learn the process from start to finish on how to embroider ITH bags. The following techniques will be discussed: applique, multi-hooping, fabric layering, digitizing designs correctly, and ITH theories. Kits can be purchased for an additional fee.

{You need to know the basics on how to operate your machine for embroidery such as turning on your machine, threading the machine, winding & loading bobbin. Make sure to have your user manual.}

Preferred hoop size: 5”x7” or larger (class cannot accommodate 4”x4” hoops)

Materials Needed by Student:
Embroidery machine with embroidery attachment arm and embroidery foot.
**Preferred hoop size: 5″x7″ or larger.

• USB Stick
• Fabric Scissors
• *Applique Scissors (*greatly helps in this project)
• Tape (masking or painter)
• Peel and Stick Fabric Fuse Tape 5/8”
• 75/11 needles
• White– 60 wt bobbin thread

40 wt embroidery threads:

• Red
• White
• Black
• Face color
• Pink (nose)

Kits Include:

• USB Stick
• Embroidery design/pattern files
• .PDF instructions of workshop (NOT a physical copy)
• 1/2 yd Tear Away Stabilizer
• 1/2 yd – Red canvas or duckcloth (Bag)
• 1/4 yd or 1 sheet – White felt (hat trim and beard)
• 1/2 yd – Cotton Christmas/Santa Theme Lining
• Red #3 zipper tape and pull (14” of tape needed)
• 2 d–rings with 1” opening
