Patch Making Iron-on Backing

This iron-on backing helps attach your patches to clothing such as hats, bags, shirts, and jackets. It can be cut with scissors or a laser cutter. To apply the backing, use a heating press or home iron.

  • Patch Iron-on Backing = 9″ x 2 yds.

How to Apply Iron-on Backing Instructions:

  • Cut backing to shape of patch.
  • Place iron-on backing white side up, with the adhesive side on the wrong side of the patch (back of patch).
  • Cover with a Teflon sheet and press with a hot iron (wool setting) for 8-12 seconds.
  • Allow patch to cool down and remove the white liner on back.
  • Place patch right side up onto the clothing. Cover patch and clothing with a Teflon sheet.
  • Set hot iron to wool setting and press for 8-12 seconds. Repeat, if necessary, until patch is adhered to clothing.

Heat Press Settings:

  • Set press to 325°F.
  • Cover patch and clothing with Teflon sheet.
  • Press for 5-8 seconds. Repeat, if necessary, until patch is adhered to clothing.
